kitten adventure

Starla and Maggie (and her magical tail),
went to sea to capture a whale...

Happy Birthday to my kitties!

Maggie and Starla (aka Magpie and Starling) are a whole year old today! They are still very kitten like, which is great fun. (They have also managed to take about 5 years off their big brother Buster, who chases around after them and runs from them in equal measure!)

Happy Birthday, my little sweeties!

It's Thursday!

Okay, I'm just trying to sound excited about it, but really, I have three more days until I get to my weekend.
sigh

So how was everyone's Halloween? I hope this finds you well, and out of harm's way. That storm back east was scary enough! I've heard it referred to as "Frankenstorm". Ugh. Well, I hope you all got a bit of a reprieve and maybe some fun last night.
We love watching the little ones going door to door. Some of the big ones are funny, too. We deck the house out big time. Secret Agent Man loves holidays and he does 'em up right. We even had a big spooky tree in the front  yard this time. Fun fun!

I sort of dressed up - if by dress up you include wearing a hat that looks like a cat and my funky cat-eye glasses.

Secret Agent Man dressed up like a secret agent man. On vacation.

It was fun.
Part of the fun was making sure kittens didn't run for the door. They are quite fascinated with any and all doors. They are constantly making a break for it.  We have to keep certain doors shut all the time so they don't get into trouble. Like the storage room. Where they can knock boxes over. Or get up in the ceiling because we have a hole cut for air so the pipes don't freeze.
Yah.
Maggie got up there the other day.
She's a little pickle.

We have come to the conclusion that the kittens probably think their names are "Maggie Careful" and "Starla Don't Eat That".

Maggie, careful...

Starla,  don't eat that...

Maggie! Careful!

Starla! Don't eat that!

Tuesday Newsday

We has kittens!

I have never had little kittens before. They are something else.

You may remember we lost our Missy Kitty a few weeks ago. We decided there was no way we could be a one cat household so we adopted 2 little sisters from Partners for Pets - Maggie and Starla (they were named Magpie and Starling but we thought those were big names for such little kittens...)

They are about 4 months old and quite the little furry rockets - they are everywhere all at once! The "old man" cat of the house, Buster, is not sure what to make of them, but I think he likes them, even if he won't admit it. He looks for them all the time, and a couple days ago I caught them all together:

Maggie, the little tuxedo kitten, wants to do everything her new big brother does, and it's like he has his own little Mini-Me following him around. (And yes, that is a cabinet full of booze! Stop by and have a drink sometime...)

In other, non-cat news: I've been booked for a show!

In all the years I've been doing art stuff, I've never had my stuff publicly shown anywhere. But that's about to change. On June 28th I will be part of an event put on by RAW:natural born artists, here in Spokane. This is a national organization with about 65 locations (although until a couple weeks ago I had never heard of them. But I have to admit, I'm not all that up on the local art scene for the most part).
It's a great opportunity for local artists of all kinds: art, photography, music, performance art, fashion and hair and makeup, film. I'm looking forward to participating and I think it sounds like it will be a lot of fun. I'm going to put up some of my Sketchbook art, I think.
If you happen to be in the area, stop by and say hi!

Logos and kitties and cute! Oh my!

Remember a couple weeks ago I posted about Moo cards, and had a giveaway for a card design? And Leslie of the Crooked Stamper won? Well, we ended up doing not only a business card design, but she's using it for her blog header, too! I'm really happy with the way the design turned out, and I think she is, too. It's very cute, if I may say so myself, and I think it fits her shop/blog. Go check out her Etsy shop, too, her cards are super cute!

I altered it slightly to make it fit a business card and blog header, also in case she wants to use it as an Etsy banner.

This was so much fun! Leslie was super easy to work with. I'm thinking I might have to offer listings for custom banners in my Etsy shop!

New Ideas, Sunday Drive and Old Lady Glasses

[First off, this picture has nothing to do with anything except I think it would be funny to see my Buster Kitten in a variety of hats...but he would claw my eyes out if I actually tried anything like this with him and then he would slink off into a corner and not speak to me for days. Well, he doesn't really talk to to me, but you know what I mean. Anyway, I've done a little series of drawings with Buster in a variety of hats. This is my Eatser Buster. He would hate this one most of all.]

So, I have decided I'm going to try getting into the glass pendant necklaces like I see on Etsy and other places online. I have noticed a lot of them are using art papers and Japanese papers, which are really lovely, but I'm hoping that I can maybe do one better by using some original art work. I've noticed florals seem to be popular. But what do you all think? What kinds of pictures/art/images do you think would be nice/fun/cute/pretty, etc (and by that I mean sell a lot)?

On a different note, the weather was great today! It was 58 degrees outside and it's hard to believe that we had 4 inches of snow last week! I am feeling much better than last week, so we took a long drive in the country. Then we came home and watched this movie, and then this movie. Phew! That was a lot of violence and action and car crashes and dead bodies (I read that "Shoot 'Em Up had a body count of 108!) and wow, what a ride! Definitely better, for that genre than the last intense action movie I watched (see this post).

Tomorrow is my 2nd day off and I am going to get the dreaded bi-focal...I already have to wear glasses most of the time, but it's gotten so that I can't use just my "regular" glasses at work because I can't see anything close. I have these in the tortoise/green and I like them ok, and I have these in dark red, but they are way too dark for my face. So hopefully I will find something I really love. We'll see!
